"FROM THE SHOEBOX TO THE SCRAPBOOK"

Nearly everyone has a box of old photos, newspaper clippings, and mementoes from the past. But very often, the tools we use to keep these memories can actually harm them or cause them to deteriorate. Riddick's Folly's workshop, "From the Shoebox to the Scrapbook" will show visitors how to preserve their memories without damaging or destroying them. 1pm. $5 per person.

SUFFOLK NEWS-HERALD’S RACE FOR LITERACY
Location: Starting/Ending at Tidewater Community College
Join the Suffolk News Herald as it works with the United Way of Southampton Roads to fight against illiteracy with a half marathon, 5K an 1 Mile Fun Run. Fees are $50 for the Half-Marathon ($60 after November 7), $20 for the 5K ($25 after November 7), Fun Run ($10). Each registered participant will receive a finisher's medal when he or she crosses the finish line. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female winners. $500 for first place, $300 or second place and $200 for third place. Registration 8:00am-9:30am; half-marathon 10:00am; 5K 10:30am; Fun Run 1:30pm; Awards Ceremony 2:00pm. The Race for Literacy will be held in the Harbour View area of North Suffolk.
