American Girl Program: "Meet Molly McIntire"

Saturday, May 18, 2019

Meet Molly McIntire! Ten-year-old Molly lives in Jefferson County, Illinois, during World War II with her parents and older siblings. Her father is an Army doctor, and Molly is a third grade student at Willow Street School, along with her best friends, Linda and Susan. They are all at the movie theater talking about how they think their teacher, Miss Campbell, is nice and pretty, and how her fiancé, Lieutenant Davies, is handsome. They go to an ice cream parlor and are disappointed when they discover it is out of ice cream, so decide to to get cherry cokes instead. Molly tells her friends about the princess-themed tea party she dreams of having for her birthday, only to learn her family cannot afford it. Suddenly she begins to understand how war changes people's lives.

There will be 3 sittings: 10am, 11:30am, and 1pm. Space is limited (20 girls per sitting) and reservations are required. Donations welcome. Ages 5 and up are welcome; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call for reservations at 757.934.0822 or email, beginning 14 days before the event. If you are unable to attend the program (once you have a reservation), please call us. We always have a waiting list and we hate for a child to miss this opportunity!
