The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts welcomes 16 artists from Lanexa, Virginia, in a new exhibition called "Fresh From The Studios." This marks the first time the Greater Lanexa Studio Tour (GLST) will be out of the studios and into the SCCA's historic art galleries. Word showcased will include a variety of mediums such as paintings, woodwork, sculpture, glass, and jewelry. Their unique artwork makes a great gift for someone special.

The Horton Wreath Society is a 501(c)3 organization that was created to raise funds to place a live evergreen wreath on each marker in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. 2019 serves as the 12th year the Society has raised funds to honor our veterans and fallen heroes. The goal this year is to place approximately 9,500 live wreaths and we need volunteers to help! The Society strives to educate all, especially our youth and future generations, to remember the sacrifices by and to respect our veterans. This is a Free Family Event open to everyone that wishes to volunteer, no registration required, just show up. We will begin with our welcome and laying of the ceremonial row of wreaths at 9am.

The Suffolk Division of Tourism is pleased to present "Mary Poppins Returns" at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, on Saturday, December 14, 2019, beginning at 2pm. This dazzling family-friendly film was a huge box office hit and received critical praise. Movie fans will get a special treat after the film, as Mary Poppins herself will be stopping by for photos with film attendees. The Great Dismal Swamp is anything but dismal. The narrated Swamp Safari, one of Suffolk’s most popular attractions, fills up quickly. This four-hour tour is led by a biologist specializing is the unique habitat of the Great Dismal. Learn about the history, lore, vegetation and wildlife with this adventure that includes a brief walk to Lake Drummond. Sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. A small snack and beverage is provided. This tour is not recommended for very small children. Reservations are required and cancellations are expected no less than 48 hours prior to scheduled tour. The bold sounds of the Virginia Symphony brass section ring in the holidays with a blast! Each year, the orchestra presents a series of Classics, Pops and Family concerts. Maestro Falletta has served as Music Director of the Virginia Symphony since 1991. Under her direction, the VSO annually performs more than 140 Classical, Pops, Family, Education, and Outreach concerts in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News, and Williamsburg, reaching more than 200,000 concert goers every year.

Imagine... stepping back in time to the glamour and opulence of the Roaring 20s within the elegant 1909 mansion that is The Truitt House. The lavish decorations by Jerry Freeman will transport you back to the century prior at the height of The Jazz Age. Period dress is highly encouraged. There will be a diverse offering of food by local chefs, including acclaimed Chef Harper Bradshaw of Harper's Table and one of Suffolk's newest chefs, Chef General Lewis of The General Public.
