Bennett's Creek Park and Boat Ramp

Shoulder's Hill Road

A 50-acre park, located on Bennett's Creek Park Road off of Shoulders Hill Road (Route 659) in the northern section of Suffolk, Bennett's Creek Park offers two free boat ramps that access the Nansemond River, a playground, tennis courts, restrooms, three covered shelters that can be reserved for use, a nature trail, open fields, fishing and crabbing pier with handicap accessible features, and plenty of fresh air and sunshine. If picnic shelters are not previously reserved, they may be used on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bennett's Creek disc golf course is a state-of-the-art golf course with rolling fairways, water hazards and beautiful scenery. Everyone from beginners to pros will enjoy this course, with tee pads available for all levels of play! 18-hole disc golf course is free and open to the public.


Davis Lakes and Campgrounds

200 Byrd Street 

Situated on 80 acres, this campground has 275 sites including 225 with water and electric hookups and 15 large pull through sites. Rental cabins are also on site, as well as a nature trail, recreation building, swimming, playground, boating, camp store, fishing and laundry facilities.


Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge

3100 Desert Road 

This Nature preserve encompasses over 111,000 acres where visitors enjoy wildlife observation, history, mystery and lore. Fishing and boating are permitted year round on the waters of Lake Drummond, a 3,100 acre natural lake in the heart of the swamp. Deer hunting by permit is available during the fall.


Lone Star Lakes Park

1 Bob House Parkway

Located at in the Chuckatuck Village of Suffolk, this 1,063-acre wilderness park offers eleven lakes for freshwater fishing, nature trails for hiking, picnic areas with tables and grills, a playground, a 4-mile horse trail for horseback riding, an archery range, a model airplane flying field, a fishing and crabbing pier, shoreline fishing areas, plenty of flora and fauna, and friendly park rangers to welcome you. Daily and annual permits are available at the Park Ranger Office. Boat rentals are not available, and gas-powered motors are not permitted. Electric motors are permitted.


Sleepy Hole Park

4700 Sleepy Hole Road 

66-acre park, located off Sleepy Hole Road on the Nansemond River, offers an 18-hole golf course, a variety of natural areas, open spaces, and breathtaking views, trails, a 30-acre lake, 12 picnic shelters and a playground. There are also 12 official horseshoe courts with walkways which include a handicap court.
